So it's been over a year since we shot Cooking with Cody LIVE and we've actually made a lot of head way on sketches in quantity, quality and prestige. The most recent one we shot yesterday was shot with 16 cast members at a location that was not a friend's apartment or house. There was catered lunch and a budget for props and wardrobe that was graciously given to us by Cracked.com. I feel that everyone's performances were strong and the sketch itself will be fun to watch. It took a while to shoot, but I do believe that the work we had ahead of us would have taken anyone else 2 days. I was in it for a split second, just like everyone else (hint) and I was one of the non-funny parts which makes me envious of everyone else. So I hope to see the finished product soon, and if you're interested in seeing a preview of it let me know and I'll see what I can do. Although Cracked has to approve it before anyone else sees it. Which makes me feel like a big shot. So now I'm going to go wipe my ass with a 100 dollar bill and then use said bill at a Chinese Buffet Restaurant.

Cramps and other world issues that can be solved with Potassium

I woke up this morning with a charlie horse in my right leg. This massive cramp woke me up at a time that my body was not prepared to wake up at. I think I've gotten to that stage in life where my body wants to see what it can get away with by randomly putting me into different states of pain and discomfort. This could have all been averted if only I had a steady intake of potassium. I need to study up on what other food products are high in potassium other than bananas. Don't get me wrong, I love bananas, but I always feel like an amateur porn store when I eat one. Like someone who needs the money for school, or drugs, or is trying to rebel from from his Amish upbringing. I suppose the grass is always greener, but I don't see the problem with being Amish. You get plenty of fresh air, there's a barn raising every 15 to 20 minutes according to what I've seen in the cinema, and their butter churning borders on 19th century French erotica.

So on a completely different topic, (hence the paragraph spacing) I ran tech for The Dallas Comedy House last night which was really exciting. I messed up once or twice, but overall did a not so bad job. The shows themselves were really good, but I felt it difficult to concentrate on watching them because I was entrenched in a battle of epic proportions with myself in the light booth. It was like dual personalities inside of me trying to come to the surface to take control. I call them Confident Collin and Not So Confident Collin. Of course it was nothing to freak out about, but I find it something necessary to do just to get over things. 10 years ago the winning streak of Not So Confident Collin was unmatched. But today, Confident Collin is running away with the show, and NSC Collin only arises when unfamiliar situations are presented.

So it's about 7:47am right now on this beautiful Friday morning, and I am about to get in the shower so I can be on my friend Marc Hall's radio show on UTA radio. I really enjoy being on the radio show because you can look however you want to look. I think being a radio personality or a voice over artist are the 2 best jobs in the world at the moment. Whenever professional Eggo Waffle consumer becomes a job, it will dethrone radio and voice over, but according to the response letters I've gotten from my congressman, that day will only come from a long and arduous journey.

Dallas Comedy House: Maestro

I'm really excited because tonight I get to participate in The Dallas Comedy House's show "Maestro". It's where students and teachers of improv get on stage together and play in scenes til there is an audience chosen winner of the Maestro. It sounds competitive, but it's not. I'm going to go up there and make people look good still, but I really do want that rock with the letter M written on it in black sharpie. I'm sure I won't win it on my first go around, but it is a lofty goal to have. Wish me luck, and that my inner competitor doesn't douse the stage with gasoline and set it ablaze.

So on Sunday, we went to shoot our comedic short "Cooking with Cody LIVE" which is the brain child of our director Greg TeGantvoort. Very funny script in which I play Cody, a whacked out meth cook with his own public access TV cooking show. So we get to the house where we start setting up the lights and whatnot. The house belongs to a guy named Tyler, and his girlfriend (who I'm sorry to say I've forgotten her name). They're friends of Adrian. Adrian is part of our Comedy Sketch Round Table who is co-starring in the sketch with me. Before we got to the house, Greg thought it would be a good idea to get into character by purchasing 3 over-sized Red Bulls and drinking them as fast as I could. I in fact thought this was a good idea as well. So we stopped at a gas station and stocked up on energy drinks. The only things I was in charge of, was bringing a certain number of props, and remembering my lines. I failed miserably on the line memorization, which I've never been good at, unless I really dedicate the time and energy needed, which I've also never been good at. Take after take I would forget parts, or get lines wrong, and the scene is basically one continuous shot. So I felt extra shitty keeping everyone there due the fact I couldn't get my head right. Also I believe the Red Bulls backfired on me, making my stomach uneasy, filled with bubbles and regret. I was getting frustrated with myself and self-destructing. I think Greg could see that, so he called for a break while he loaded up the footage to Adrian's hard-drive. I got to lay on the cold tile and relish in the fact that I was no longer under the 5 hot lights that cooked my ass like a Thanksgiving Turkey. Taking the time-out to brush up on lines and try not to suck, we started watching the footage that we had already shot. It looked so amazingly good. Like an actual cooking show could be shot in this kitchen. My wardrobe was trashy without being too trashy. There was a subtle elegance to the blue dew rag, white tank top, and yellow latex dish washing gloves. After seeing how good it looked, and how I could single-handedly bring it down with my shitty acting, I decided to nut up and give it my all. It wasn't like the end of a movie where the hero is automatically awesome, and starts kicking ass. It took me a few tries, but I do believe I came through in the clutch. I'm thankful for Greg, Adrian, Joseph, and Oliver having the patience to sweat it out with me. Those guys are troopers.

Still thinking about my fucking ipod that got stolen out of my truck, and who's out there, raping and pilaging the sweet music out of it with their ears. Johnny Cash, No Doubt (good No Doubt) Coldplay, Wolf Parade, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, The National, Rancid, etc. Christ I miss it. I think I'll start going around to pawn shops and seeing if I can find it. Anyway, enjoy the drawing.
